The Public Service Workers’ Union (PSWU) of the National Identification Authority (NIA) has declared an indefinite strike starting June 10, 2024, due to the government's failure to improve working conditions and negotiate better terms.

Despite deferring a strike in March 2024 after the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations intervened, no progress has been made.

The union cites delays in negotiations and the lack of institution-specific allowances. The strike will halt services at all NIA offices, including district, regional, and premium centers.
