The indefinite strike by National Identification Authority (NIA) staff has left many applicants in the Ashanti Region stranded, unable to obtain essential services.

The strike, which began on June 10, 2024, was prompted by unresolved poor conditions of service and negotiation delays.

The Public Services Workers Union, despite postponing an initial strike in March following government intervention, proceeded with industrial action due to continued inaction.

As all NIA offices have ceased operations, applicants are urging the government to promptly address the NIA's concerns, fearing prolonged disruptions if the strike continues.
