NPP owes Tarzan an apology - Nana Akomea

Nana Akomea, Director of Communications of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the party owes Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby, otherwise known as Tarzan an apology for the publication of his suspension in a newspaper before formal notification.

The New Statesman published on Tuesday, July 9 that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party last Friday slapped a two-year ban on Charles Wereko-Brobby for misconduct.

Even though Nana Akomea confirmed on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Tuesday, July 9 that the NEC has taken a "disciplinary" decision on Tarzan, he would not say exactly what that decision is, especially when Tarzan has not been informed formally.

Nana Akomea also debunked the assertion that Dr Wereko-Brobby was being punished because he spoke his mind about party issues outside the party structures.

According to him, Dr Wereko-Brobby would not be the first person to criticise the party openly, and insisted that sanctions are meted out to members if what a party member says breaches the duties of a member of the party; or such criticisms, within or outside the party, brings the party into disrepute.

But Tazan was not impressed by the explanations. According to him, Nana Akomea's comments are not sincere and any apology from the party would be "perfunctionary" - or just for the sake of saying.

Speaking on the Super Morning Show Tarzan also declined further comment on the suspension, but he said “when we have put a credible leadership in the party, these matters will take care of themselves”
