Following the recent revelation made by the former president John Dramani Mahama that government is training thugs at Asutuare to cause chaos during the 2020 elections, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, has revealed that the reason the party hasn’t reported their findings to the police or CID is due to lack of trust on the State security.

Making reference to the Ayawaso West Wuogon by election violence, General Mosquito as he is also called, noted that the case was reported to the police, but till date, no security officer has been arrested.
“When we reported the crimes that were committed at Ayawaso West Wuogon, did you see the police arresting the national security officers” so why do you expect that you go and then report to the police.”
While responding to a question about the NDC’s failure to report their discovery of a group of individuals possibly planning to commit crime to the CID or Police, Mr Nketia noted that the facilities being used by the group belong to the same police service so there is no one to report to.
“Which police are you reporting it to? The same police service whose facilities are been used, if the state facilities are been used to commit crime and you’re going to report that crime to the same state facilities, are you kidding?” he quizzed.
The General Secretary who was speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express Tuesday evening, indicated that his party’s discoveries will be sent to the 'court of public opinion' for further investigations to commence.
“We are taking the case to court of Public Opinion that is what we are doing. And we are alerting the nation that if what they are doing is preparing the state for confusion in the country. When confusion happens, it is not going to affect Asiedu Nketiah alone, it affects all the citizens. So because of the position we occupy, we have a responsibility to disclose information about things that are happening that will not go well for the country. So we are doing our part. “
In the meantime, the Ghana Armed Forces have denied the allegations, saying it is not possible that any such group would receive any training at the facility.
According to Commander La-Anyane, the only group of people that have been trained there as recently as last week were forestry guards from the Forestry Commission.
“There can be no such evidence from Asutuare because it not true. Whatever pictures or videos they claim to have cannot be from our facilities. Let them provide it. I can assure you it is not true”, said Commander La-Anyane.
In a press statement, the NDC stated confidently, that in their possession are pictures and other pieces of indisputable evidence about the training of these thugs at Asutuare towards election 2020.
