'Nana Addo must not blame anybody if he loses 2016'

NDC Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho NDC Deputy General Secretary, Koku Anyidoho

The ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) says it will clinch victory in 2016 elections on merit, and will not depend on the current troubles in the major opposition party, New Patriotic Party (NPP), to win the upcoming polls.

“Inasmuch as we are watching them implode, we are not depending on that for victory in 2016,” Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) told host Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

Crisis in the NPP is deepening as the suspended National Chairman Paul Afoko, who lost his appeal to have his suspension reversed, has indicated he will head to court to seek redress over the matter.

Commenting on the confusion in the Dankwa-Busia-Dombo tradition, Anyidoho says the NPP flagbearer is behind all the chaos confronting the party.

“Let Akufo Addo continue to destroy the NPP the way he wants- when he loses the 2016 elections he should not blame anybody.”

“The UP tradition has had its problems from Nkrumah days, and so history is just repeating itself. If in 1979, Sir Willaim Ofori Atta, Akufo-Addo’s uncle destroyed the UP tradition by forming UNC to break away from the PFP, and years down the line his nephew is destroying the NPP the way his uncle did some time ago, for me as a student of politics it is interesting to watch one family destroy a political tradition.

“But that is not what we are depending on for victory, what we are depending on as a party is the continuous handwork, the building of infrastructure, and so forth. We are focused to deliver on our promise.”
