'Nana Addo’s allies just want to fill their pockets'

Nana Akufo-Addo - NPP Presidential Candidate Nana Akufo-Addo - NPP Presidential Candidate

Communications Director of “Save NPP Now” - a pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth group - Mr. Baah Acheamfour has described some individuals around his party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as “crooks”.

He noted that the NPP’s presidential candidate might continue to remain in opposition if he does not distance himself from such people who hold themselves out as his allies.

Mr. Baah Acheamfour, who was speaking on NEAT FM, accused some groups he believes are sympathetic to the cause of the party's flagbearer, as being the cause of the opposition party's woes.

He told host Kwasi Aboagye that – “Some people around Nana Addo are just following him to fill their pockets. They are not doing him any good.”

Mr. Baah Acheamfour, who was quite emotional about occurrences in the NPP, recently threatened to make shocking revelations if anyone in the party dared him - he claims to possess documents that could send the NPP to the cleaners if revealed.

Known for his controversial outbursts, he stirred the hornet's nest a couple of weeks ago when he alleged on Neat FM that the NPP funded the famous #Dumsormuststop vigil organised by award-winning actress Yvonne Nelson.

Earlier last month (July), he accused Nana Akufo-Addo and former Finance Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo of causing the party’s defeat in the Talensi by-election.

He strongly held the view that Osafo Marfo’s recent tribally discriminatory statements and Nana Addo’s perceived move to oust NPP National Chairman Paul Afoko worked against the party’s victory.

Prior to that allegation, he had shockingly posited in May that the party's Headquarters - which he claimed was used as collateral for a $2m loan contracted from Prudential Bank - might be sold to defray payment since the NPP had reneged on its promise to repay the debt.
