Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana’s first President Kwame Nkrumah, has disagreed with President Akufo-Addo’s statement that Ghana was not solely founded by his father.
In a Joy News interview, Sekou emphasized that Nkrumah, though one man, symbolized the aspirations of millions of Ghanaians.
He argued that while the UGCC initially sought Nkrumah’s help, his grassroots mobilization and formation of the CPP were pivotal in winning the 1951 and 1956 elections, underscoring his central role in Ghana’s independence.
Sekou criticized President Akufo-Addo for not recognizing Nkrumah's broader significance, beyond just being an individual.
