“No society in the world has uprooted corruption, what they have done is to minimize it,” the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated.

Responding to a question on how he intends to deal with corruption if he is elected President of Ghana, Akufo-Addo said it is difficult to completely uproot corruption from a society, but measures must be put in place to ensure there is no room for corrupt practices to thrive.

“We must enforce the legal regime in dealing with corruption,” Akufo-Addo told host of the Citi Breakfast Show Bernard Avle Monday adding, “we need an office of a special prosecutor independent of the Attorney General Department.”

He also added that if corruption is dealt with properly funding for the free Senior High School (SHS) should not be a problem.

According to him, the decision by the Mahama-led administration to start the free SHS with a “few schools” has not robbed him of a campaign message ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections.
