No data would be lost - Acting Commissioner of GRA assures

Ammishaddia Owusu Amoah, Acting Commissioner of Ghana Revenue Authority has assured the general public that data won't be lost after Sunday morning's fire outbreak at the Authority's head office annex.

According to him, GRA is confident of the safety of data, hence have put in place fire recovery plans.

Read full articlethat we have our system where the main server sits somewhere and the backup sits somewhere, so data will not be lost," he explained.

The fire started at the GRA head office annex on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at the offices on the top floor of the multipurpose building.

Mr. Owusu Amoah addressing the media also announced to the public that though the burnt building housed about 280 staff from the large taxpayer office as well as the medium taxpayer office of Adabraka, the inferno will not affect business operations.

"As GRA we have our own contingency and fire recovery plan in place. What we have in place is that by tomorrow morning the staff for the large taxpayer office will be relocating to our office at the head office building and particular to where we refer to Kinbu office is also an annex for the large taxpayer office.

And so all taxpayers who require transact or do any business with us are encouraged to that from our head office near the stadium at the Kinbu office.

We have made provisions to ensure that our staff who are located in this building will be available there to attend to them," he noted



He added that "for those taxpayers who are part of the medium taxpayer for Adabraka, we have made arrangements for them to be served at the Adabraka small taxpayer office.

The Adabraka small taxpayer office is located near the Adabraka Police Station and therefore the staff who are responsible will be there to serve them."

He urged the public to visit any of the aforementioned places to transact business.

Meanwhile, the management of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has debunked rumours that some GH¢147million has been lost to the fire that engulfed its Head Office Annex.



Addressing the press on Sunday, GRA Board Chairman, Professor Stephen Adei, indicated that the information was untrue.

Prof Adei also gave the assurance that important documents have been secured since the Authority has a safe backup system in place.

The GRA Board Chair also said the fire should not prevent citizens from transacting businesses with other branches of GRA.
