Ghana's Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has assured the public that the country will not face a famine despite the ongoing drought in Northern Ghana.
The region has experienced over two months without rainfall, causing concerns about crop failure and food insecurity.
However, Acheampong dismissed fears of a food crisis, referencing the 1983 famine, but emphasizing that the current situation is different due to improved predictive tools and government measures.
He noted that any impact on food markets will be addressed by proactive steps, and farmers still have grain reserves to sustain them.
