The Odikro of Mumford in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region Nana Edwey XI has served notice that he and his people will only vote come 2020 general elections if they see their Fishing Harbour built.
According to the chief, even though the government has cut the sod for the construction of the harbour they don’t believe it will be done because this is the second sod cutting for the construction.
“I remember during former President John Agyekum Kuffour’s time they cut sod for the construction of the Mumford honour and all the equipment were brought here and later left them to spoil. We don’t want the government to intentionally start the project to seek for votes and later abandon. So unless we see it physically built and commissioned we’ll not vote coming 2020 general elections.”
He added: “If it must be done it must be done well because we don’t want to see any camouflage and 419 harbour here for we are tired of promises”
Nana Edwey made this statement during the celebration of Mumford Akwambo festival.
Kasapa FM News Yaw Boagyan who covered the Festival celebrations reported that the residents were so excited with the stance taken by the chief and vowed not to vote in the upcoming elections.
