No strife or chaos to disturb primaries – Akufo-Addo urges NPP delegates

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has admonished delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to go the internal polls peacefully, devoid of chaos or confusion.

“We are going to elect our parliamentary candidates on 25th April; I’m appealing to you to do that peacefully so that there is no strife or acrimony to disturb the party,” the President told party faithfuls at the headquarters on Thursday, February, 20, 2020.

The upcoming primaries for the ruling party has seen pockets of violence in the early stages even before the elections are held on April 25 this year.

Five persons on Wednesday sustained serious injuries after supporters of Parliamentary aspirant Hon. Francis Addai Nimoh and the incumbent MP for Asante Mampong, Kweku Ampratum Sarpong clashed in a free-for-all fight at the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) constituency office.

Similar incident happened on Monday, when the Constituency Secretary of the NPP in the Adansi Asokwa Constituency, Samuel Awui was attacked by some other NPP supporters during the submission of nomination forms by a parliamentary aspirant, Sammy Darkwa.

But President Akufo-Addo has advised the primaries must not record any violence that will mar the beauty of the democratic polls.

Mr. Akufo-Addo filed his nomination forms Thursday afternoon to seal his candidature in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential elections billed for April 25, 2020.

President Akufo-Addo will go unopposed as he had no challenger for that slot when filing of nominations closed.
