Normalising monetisation in politics is a dangerous trend – NCCE Chair

The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy, has raised concerns about the growing use of money to influence voters in Ghana’s politics, warning it could undermine democracy.

Speaking at the JoyNews National Dialogue, Addy cautioned that this trend risks putting democracy "up for sale."

Addy also highlighted the dangers of fake news and political violence, calling for unity and responsible engagement.

The NCCE plans to launch awareness programs to educate citizens about these issues, promoting religious tolerance and peaceful, respectful political campaigns ahead of the 2024 elections.
