Nungua Traditional Council warns govt officials to stay off Sakumono Ramsar Site

The Nungua Traditional Council has warned government officials and developers to stop encroaching on lands along the Sakumono Ramsar site, which belong to the Ga people.

Despite an order from the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, to stay off the site, construction by an unknown developer, allegedly backed by National Security operatives, is ongoing without approval.

Speaking at a press briefing, Seth Bortier Okaigyae expressed concerns about unauthorized activities and destruction of buildings. Private developer Godknows Dumashie also criticized the unchecked development.

The council warned of potential actions to protect their land if encroachments continue.
