The Upper East Regional Chief Nursing Officer, Bernard Anankor, has raised alarms about increasing addiction to betting, alcohol, and substance abuse among nurses in the region.

Speaking at the matriculation of 217 new students at the Midwifery Training College in Bolgatanga, he highlighted how some nurses spend their entire salaries on betting and engage in illegal activities to make ends meet.

Anankor also expressed concern about nurses' substance abuse and the region's high rate of road accidents involving health workers. He urged nurses to adhere to road safety regulations and focus on their professional responsibilities.
