Oforikrom best farmer charges her colleagues to be extra hard working; says farming is lucrative

The best farmer for the Oforikrom’s maiden best farmer awards, Salima Sulemana has charged her colleague farmers to go the extra mile in making farming a very lucrative one.

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly (OfMA) last Friday had its maiden farmers’ day event which saw to the awarding of some hardworking farmers within the Oforikrom municipality.

According to Salima Sulemana who lives in Boadi, she has been very much successful in her work because she went the extra mile in pursuing her career. She indicated her hard work had paid off both in cash and in recognition. She revealed farming is not an easy venture but pays off when pursued with all the attention and seriousness.

“I want to encourage all farmers to work harder. It is our chosen profession and we need to make it work at all cost. It is true that farming is not an easy task but with more efforts and passion for the work, success is definitely expected”. She opined.

She showered praises unto the current government led by the President, Nana Addo Dunkwa Akuffo Addo for recognizing farmers and awarding their efforts. She revealed such recognition goes a long way in pushing them to greater heights in their chosen job. She was grateful for the massive support and attention this government is giving farmers such as free seedlings, free fertilizers, financial support, etc.

Meanwhile, Salima Sulemana was given a chest freezer,Wellington boots, machetes, bars of keysoap, a sprayer and some other tools needed for farming.

Best Agricultural Extension Agent; Alex Asiamah, Municipal Best Livestock Farmer; Nafisa Bawa – Nsenie, Municipal Best Agro – Processor; Pay Oil Company Limited – Boadi, Municipal Best Maize Farmer; Godwin Dikro – Anwomaso,

Municipal Best Rice Farmer; Issaka Imoro – Anwomaso, Municipal Best Lettuce Farmer; Maxwell Owusu – Deduako, Municipal Best Cabbage Farmer; Zackaria Alhassan – Boadi, Municipal Best Spring Onion Farmer; Charles Awuni – KNUST Campus, Municipal Best Sweet Pepper Farmer; Akolgo Godwin – Kentinkrono.

The program which was held at Kotei unique park was a success as the Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, Hon. Emmanuel Marfo, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Gloria Temmah Gambrah among some other dignitaries graced it with the queen mother of Kotei, Nana Adutwumwaa II representing as the chairperson for the event.
