At Zebilla District Hospital in the Upper East Region, a one-week-old baby has been allegedly stolen on Saturday.
Felicia Dery, the baby's mother, entrusted her infant to a stranger posing as a patient’s relative while she took a bath.
The stranger, with a male accomplice, disappeared with the baby. The hospital's midwife, Zangina Grace, noted the security lapses, including the lack of CCTV and proper fencing.
The suspects were identified through an ID card left behind and were apprehended.
The baby was safely recovered. Dr. Ayobi Abdul-Rahaman confirmed the incident and emphasized the need for improved security measures.
