The Electoral Commission of Ghana aims to use the Ghana Card as the sole identification for future elections to eliminate conflicts observed during the recent voter transfer exercise.
This exercise saw confusion and violence, notably in Weija, where the MP's son was injured.
After a meeting with over 50 civil society organizations, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa expressed hope that Parliament will pass a bill making the Ghana Card the sole voter ID.
CODEO's National Coordinator, Albert Kofi Arhin, urged the EC to promote peace amid high tensions and economic uncertainty. The inclusion of journalists in IPAC meetings was also discussed.
