It is only the national executive members who can seek information about the finances of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ,a national vice chairman of the party Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has disclosed.
The NDC’s Director of Elections explains per the party structure, only executives at the national level should have full knowledge of the party’s finances and call for accountability among themselves.
“Nobody even from constituency or regional level can force us to disclose the state of our finances”, Mr. Ofosu Ampfo stated I on Peace FM
This comes at the back of concerns by some youth group in the party who have accused some executives of diverting party cash and mounted pressure on the leadership to render accounts to them after the party lost power to the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The groups alleged that some executives of the party did poor campaigning squandering monies which were meant for grassroots.
“Whom are we suppose to account to? When was the last time a party rendered accounts after losing elections “, he asked
“Do you know the cost of the number of billboards erected nationwide, the number of t-shirts printed….and the cost involved in running the whole camping”
He asked those calling on the current executives to disclose the amount used in running the 2016 elections to rather forget and forge ahead for unity
