Government spokesperson Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah is hopeful that discussions with organized labour will prevent the planned strike on October 10, 2024, aimed at urging decisive action against illegal mining.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, he expressed confidence that a resolution will be reached before the strike date as the government is actively addressing labour’s concerns.

Labour unions have demanded a review of laws and a state of emergency in galamsey-affected areas.

Dr. Boakye-Danquah assured that the government will soon respond to these demands, working to avert the industrial action.
