Veteran Journalist and social commentator, Kwasi Pratt Jnr has urged under fire Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba to learn from the maturity of her colleague minister, Ursula Owusu Ekuful whom he described as a changed person in government.
He said, Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful has become a role model in government and has acted with so much maturity, which other ministers should emulate.
Mr Pratt gave the advise while commenting on the feud between Gender Minister Otiko Afisa Djaba and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu.
The two senior party members have in the past three days launched scathing attacks against each other with serious allegations some of which borders on criminality being made in the media.
Whereas Otiko has claimed the Chairman has taken goats and cows as bribes and promised people jobs, the latter on his part has accused the Minister and her colleague of being involved in the plot that led to the murder of Adams Mahama, the late NPP’s Upper East regional chairman. A matter that is currently before an Accra High Court.
The conduct of the two officials have been roundly condemned by a large section of the public, who have decsribed the duo’s behaviour as highly represensible.
Commenting further on the matter on Peace FM Tuesday, Kwasi Pratt Jnr reminded ministers in the Akufo Addo administration that they serve at the pleasure of the President who can relieve them of their positions anytime, for which reason they should eschew arrogance and rather have respect for everyone.
He added that Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful has won the respect and admiration of many for her composure.
“I’m surprised that while some of the ministers have changed considerably from their conduct while in opposition, others are strongly holding on their bad behaviours. I’ve had so much admiration and respect for Hon. Ursula Owusu Ekuful, everyone was waiting to see the kind of behaviour she would put on when she’s made a member in the Akufo Addo’s government. But pleasantly surprising, Ursula is today a big role model. Upon becoming a minister, she speaks with a great deal of maturity, and this is evident for all to see. If in the past you didn’t like her, now you can’t but admire and respect her.”
He added: “Look at someone like Hon. Dan Botwe who has been in politics for decades and been involved in public discourse for a long time, not even once has he made comments which are unsavoury. However these young appointees some of whom are still finding their feet in politics are not learning from their seniors but are quick to throw their weight about and are also checky in their conduct.”
