Our aim isn’t to arrest anybody; we just want our water to be clean – Taskforce against galamsey

The joint taskforce against illegal mining, led by Col. Eric Tenadu, aims to prevent galamsey rather than arrest individuals.

Their mission is to restore polluted rivers by stopping mining activities.

Speaking on the Birim River cleanup, Col. Tenadu emphasized that sending a strong message to illegal miners has been effective, with many moving equipment before the taskforce arrived.

The taskforce destroyed 18 mining machines and 10 water pumps. Col.

Tenadu pledged to continue operations across Ghana's water bodies until they are restored to their natural state.

The campaign will cover all major rivers.
