Organised Labour has reiterated its demand for an immediate halt to illegal mining, or *galamsey*, across Ghana.
During a September 17, 2024 meeting with the government's inter-ministerial committee on the issue, the group emphasized the need for swift action and proposed additional measures, including revoking certain forest reserve policies and securing a political pact against galamsey.
Organised Labour warned that if the government fails to meet their demands by the end of September, they will take actions that could harm government interests.
Their stance highlights rising frustration over the ongoing environmental damage caused by galamsey.
