Our superiors slapping, beating us - Customs NaBCo recruits

NaBCo recruits passed out last year NaBCo recruits passed out last year

Some recruits of the Nation Builders Corps, (NaBCo) posted to the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have accused their superiors of abusing and beating them.

NaBCo is an intervention by the government aimed at optimizing the talents of unemployed graduates and equipping them with skills through a process of value addition and training.

The temporary job opportunity, which will last for two years, was opened to Ghanaians who have already discharged their national service obligations.

The recruits posted to the Customs Division of GRA say they are being beaten and slapped at training grounds.

One of them told Class News on condition of anonymity that: “They said it is a para-military training and the way they are treating us, it’s as if we are in the academy."

"When we complain, they tell us other organizations are there and we could have applied for others, but we chose to come to Customs, so, they will treat us like how they treat their recruits.”

“They beat and slap us. When you commit any mistake, you’ll be beaten. If you are asked to slap somebody and you don’t slap the person, well, they will slap you”.
