Ing. Richard Amekor, Head of the Drainage Department at the Ghana Hydrological Authority, says over $6 billion is required to implement a drainage master plan to mitigate flooding in Ghana.

Speaking on JoyFM's Newsnight, Amekor highlighted the plan's unimplemented status due to resource constraints, despite its potential to reduce flooding through major storm drain construction.

He emphasized that public attitudes, such as building in waterlogged areas, exacerbate flooding.

Amekor expressed hope for funding from the $150 million allocated to the Greater Accra Resilience and Integrated Development Project (GARIP) to commence storm drain construction by September.
