Owusu Bempah conspiring with NPP to torch EC office – Gyataba alleges

Nana Agyenim Boateng, popularly called Gyataba, the 2016 presidential candidate of the United Front Party (UFP), has accused Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah of colluding with the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) to torch the Electoral Commission’s office.

“The NPP should understand that the data centre is not in the EC office, so that ploy would come to nought,” Gyataba told host Kweku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Tuesday.

The Founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministry International, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah has warned of a possible arson at the offices before the December 7, 2020 general elections.

“I saw a fire outbreak at the EC offices, I beg of Ghanaians we shouldn’t take this revelation lightly at all. Those responsible for the security of the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensah and Dr. Bossman Asare’s must intensify their protection. The soldiers and police officers who guide them should do their work well. God opened my eyes to see the building in flames and I’ve seen this twice. Ghanaians please listen to me and don’t joke with what I’ve said. Right after they finish compiling the new voters register the protection must be very strong and even before the register is compiled security at the premises must be tight at all times. Both the woman[EC Chairperson] and the EC offices must be well protected. I know some people in this country will poohpooh what I just said and others will deal with me. But even when I’m insulted I will not respond,” Prophet Owusu Bempah said in church on Sunday.

Commenting on the development on Anopa Kasapa, Gyataba contended that the EC and the ruling NPP race against time to carry out their misdeeds ahead of the December polls.

“Owusu Bempah is Nana Akufo-Addo’s prophet, so no wonder this is coming from him. They want to do something by all means to cover up their evil intention. They know at this point that the new gadgets they want to procure cannot be imported from China because of the Coronavirus outbreak,” he stressed.

The Electoral Commission (EC) will begin compiling a new voters’ register on Sunday, April 18, 2020.

The Commission intends to complete the exercise by May 30, 2020.

The Commission also expects to exhibit the new register from August 15 to August 28, 2020.

Meanwhile, policy think tank, IMANI-Africa says “If the EC goes ahead and throws caution to the wind to maintain the shambolic April 18th timeline, the credibility of the new system shall suffer.”

IMANI-Africa, president, Franklin Cudjoe in a Facebook post reiterated its resolve to contest what it described as “the wild financial claims and outright scams the EC has cooked to justify the astronomical expense on the elections.”
