James Klutse Avedzi, Chairman of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, is advocating for parliamentary vetting of the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA).

He argues this would enhance accountability and reduce corruption, which the committee sees as prevalent in public procurement.

Avedzi recommends changing the appointment process to allow for competitive bidding and suggested setting fixed terms for the CEO to promote independence and integrity in decision-making. He also highlighted that low salaries for the position increase corruption risks.
