Former Ghana Bar Association President, Sam Okudzeto, emphasized the judiciary's key role in interpreting the law, particularly in the ongoing controversy over Parliament's leadership.

Following Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four parliamentary seats vacant, leading to a leadership crisis, Okudzeto clarified that while Parliament makes laws, only the Supreme Court has the authority to interpret the Constitution.

He criticized some lawmakers for prioritizing sentiments over legality, stressing that the Supreme Court must resolve the issue.

The court has already stayed Bagbin’s ruling, allowing the four MPs to resume their duties pending further hearings.
