He called on other political parties to emulate this system adopted by the NDC.
“One of the areas to reduce corruption is really to find a way to raise financing in a way that is shared and I think the NDC is finding that formula. Allowing us to share that huge responsibility of party financing. Imagine every member contributes one cedi that is huge and I think it is very progressive and it’s a step that must be supported,” He said.
“…I’m excited about this and I believe all political parties will once again learn from NDC’s lead. We are being very realistic. We are looking forward to the day where political parties in Ghana will not be holding to big business men and that political parties will win power through the support of ordinary Ghanaians in such a way that when they are in power, they can focus on the critical business of development and I think the NDC is breaking the corner.” He added
The NDC launched an electronic payment platform to enable party members and sympathisers to contribute financially to their 2020 campaign.
The flag bearer of the party, John Dramani Mahama, who launched the platform at the Trade Fair Centre in La, said the move was a solid step by the party to bring transparency to the funding of its political campaign.
