Health workers at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi has began a strike on Monday, July 15, 2024, disrupting Outpatient Department (OPD) services.

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and the Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives, Ghana (UPNMG), are protesting after the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) approved a now-canceled plan for the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to sell a 60% stake in four hotels.

Despite the deal’s termination, organized labour criticizes SSNIT's leadership for poor decision-making.
