Peace goes beyond the absence of violence – Dr. Festus Aubyn

Dr. Festus Aubyn, Regional Coordinator of WANEP, emphasized that true peace involves more than the absence of violence, highlighting structural challenges like governance issues, unemployment, and marginalization.

Speaking at the JoyNews National Dialogue, he noted that while Ghana has enjoyed relative stability and successful political transitions since 1992, ongoing challenges must be addressed to achieve lasting peace.

Dr. Aubyn praised the contributions of civil society, the media, and institutions like the National Peace Council, positioning Ghana as relatively better off compared to other Sahel nations, despite the need for continued efforts in peacebuilding.
