Peasant farmers in despair over $12m spent on Pwalugu Dam

The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana has expressed shock over the $12 million payment to a contractor for the Puwalugu Dam in the Upper East Region, despite no visible work.

President Akufo-Addo initiated the dam's construction in November 2019, with a 50-month completion timeline. Association President Charles Nyaaba highlighted the surprise and concern among members.

MP for Bongo, Edward Bawa, called for prosecution of those responsible for the misappropriation of funds, demanding accountability and the retrieval of the money.

Both emphasized on the need for thorough investigation and legal action against those involved.
