People think we were asleep until Nkrumah’s arrival – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed that Ghana’s history predates Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

Speaking at the 2024 Founders' Day celebration on August 3, he emphasized that Ghana was not solely founded by Nkrumah.

Despite debates from Nkrumah’s supporters, Akufo-Addo stood by his position, recalling Parliament's 2019 consensus to honor Nkrumah with a memorial day while acknowledging the historical significance of August 4th.

He believes this balanced recognition should endure.
