The Ghana Police Service has admitted to unlawfully detaining two protesters from the recent #ReoccupyJulorbiHouse and #StopGalamseyNow demonstrations for more than 48 hours.
The police described the situation as unfortunate and initiated an investigation by the Police Professional Standards Bureau.
They also clarified that claims regarding the arrest of a 12-year-old girl and a pregnant woman were inaccurate.
A woman charged with exposing a child to danger during the protests has been released on bail.
The total number of protesters remanded in custody now stands at 51 following the demonstrations against illegal mining and economic issues.
