The Ghana Police Service has denied media reports claiming that activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor was assaulted while in custody.

In a statement on October 20, 2024, the police called the allegations "false and baseless," dismissing them as an attempt to gain public sympathy.

Barker-Vormawor, who faces prosecution by the Attorney General's office, was granted bail on October 16 but couldn't meet the conditions.

On October 19, he resisted a transfer to another cell, leading to minor injuries during an attempted handcuffing.

The police emphasized their commitment to maintaining order and protecting all detainees.
