The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr David Asante-Apeatu has said that the Ghana Police Service will revise its service instructions manual to include communication and media relations policy.
In a presentation on Wednesday 11 July 2018 at a one-day forum on Police and Media Relations held in Accra, the IGP indicated that “the media is a reliable strategic partner for the police”.
He said the media represents a mirror in their quest to provide world class policing to citizens.
Representatives for the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) present at the event said it's appropriate for the police to sensitise the media in a much proper way to build relationships and balance between the police and the media.
Madam Adjoa Yeboah Afari, President of the Editors Forum, on her part, acknowledged the necessary role Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is playing between the police and the media and encouraged more collaborative efforts to ensure better service delivery to citizens.
