President cuts sod for 14.4-kilometre road construction in Western North Region

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the construction of various town roads in the Sefwi-Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region.

The construction would be funded by the Ghana Road Fund at a cost of Ghc 26,141,329.36 and expected to be completed within one and half years.

M/S Rajar Engineering Works have been contracted through the Department of Urban Roads for the execution of road project, which involves the upgrading of some 14.43 kilometres of selected roads in Sefwi-Juaboso.

The project would greatly improve the mobility in the area, save travel time, facilitate commerce and industry and improve on the lifespan of vehicles operating in the area.

The roads include the 0.75km CAC/Nana Kwesi Road, 1.60km Nana Yaa Menka, 0.58km Old Police Station, 1.0km Juasec, 1.0km Kena, 0.25km Hospital Road 1, and the 0.35km Hospital Road 2 and Mortuary roads.

The others are 0.36km Hospital Road 3, 0.20km Ayiwa road, 0.35km Bedibu Assaw Link, 0.35km Amandu Wangara Lane, 0.25km Coca Cola road and the 0.14km Juaboso Lorry Park.

The rest are 0.75km Codapec road, 3.30km Boizan road and the 3.2km Boizan road 2.

The scope of the project would involve the construction of various sizes of concrete drains and primer seal among other things.

The President assured the people that the deplorable roads in the new Region, including the Benchema-Osei Kojokrom road, Enchi-Dadieso and the Akontombra-Sefwi Wiawso roads would soon be fixed.

Earlier, the President presented eight vehicles to the Coordinating Council of the Western North Region to help facilitate its work.

Mr Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, the Western North Regional Minister, received the keys to the vehicles, which included three Nissan Patrol SUVs and five pick-ups.

The President also inspected the site for the construction of the Administration Block for the Western North Coordinating Council.

He also inspected a newly constructed Business Resource Centre at Sefwi-Wiawso.
