Pressure mounts for independent audit of voter register ahead of December elections

With just over three months until the December elections, calls for an independent audit of the voter register are growing, led by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and supported by smaller parties.

The push follows claims that some Electoral Commission (EC) officers illegally transferred voters, prompting an ongoing investigation.

Dr. Abu Sakara Foster, co-convener of the Alliance for Revolutionary Change, emphasized the need for a third-party audit to maintain trust in the process, while Remy Edmundson of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) warned of potential confusion on Election Day if the issue isn’t resolved.
