The Ministry of Roads and Highways is engaging stakeholders to reinstate road tolls in Ghana, which were halted in 2021.
Sector Minister Francis Asenso-Boakye believes tolls are necessary to fund road maintenance and repairs. The move aims to address the country's deteriorating roads, with the ministry seeking buy-in from stakeholders to reintroduce tolls.
Asenso-Boakye notes that tolls are used in many countries to finance road maintenance, and Ghana should follow suit.
The decision aims to ensure regular road maintenance and improvement.
