Security expert, Dr. Kwesi Aning has expressed his view on the increasing rate of death prophecies in Ghana at a media address with some members of the clergy on the theme the "Prophetism in Ghanaian Public Life" press conference at the Press Centre on February 21st, 2018.

Read full articleat the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra expressed his worry about the rampant prophecies by self-acclaimed prophets in Ghana which have stripped Ghanaians naked of our hypocrisy.
This comes after the death of Ghanaian female musician Ebony Reigns, who met her untimely death on 8th February 2018 on the Sunyani-Kumasi road. Many prophets came out claiming they prophesied the musician’s dooms day.
The recent prophecy is that of dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah Otherwise known as Shatta Wale.
“What are the motives behind spiritual prophecies, and what do their authors seek to gain by making such predictions. Is it about power, access to power, money, sowing fear or sowing discord to society? Is it to become popular and high level political and economic and wealth if u get to their churches”, he said.
Dr. Aning made an assertion on prophecies made about Shatta Wale and the panic it has caused the artiste and his family members.
"For the father of Shatta Wale to tour various FM station to talk about prophecies given to his son, just shows you the power and the extent of fear that has gripped this country.”
“In societies of fear, all what it means is that, it affects negatively our economic activities, it undermines public trust, and it undermines investor confidence and we begin to see each other as the enemy.
These prophecies have stripped us naked as Ghanaians of our hypocrisy and our enchants for doing each other good”, the security expert further said.
“What these false prophecies do is that decision-makers are frightened and differ sensitive decisions about our lives to the spiritual worlds. Ghanaians have become so enamored with visions and prophecies we don’t question. Ghanaians are now driven more than spiritual things than rationality”, he lamented.
