Read full articlewrong things, she admonished the electorate to hold them accountable and withdrawing their mandate if the politicians fail to live up to expectations.
Mrs. Amankwah was speaking at the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) annual conference themed, ‘Cause Related Marketing; a Panacea for National Behavioural Change’ at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra.
Her presentation was in special reference to the political environment in the country.
“This is a country where in certain places it doesn’t matter the politician, any monkey in a suit will win in that place because they’ve determined that as for us this is the way we vote, we vote NPP; so NPP can put any monkey in the suit there and they will win. And so that monkey in a suit can be a womanizer, a drunkard, a thief, he can be whatever, once he belongs to that party it does not matter he will win…. If we don’t change our behaviour we’re going nowhere,” she said.
She added, “So if politicians are not taking responsibilities for their actions and you’re not punishing them, they will continue that way. Somebody promises you something, you look at it, if it is in his capability to keep to that promise and be able to execute it. If not able to execute it explain to you logically why he’s not able to execute it, you may or may not vote for him…. Punish people for wrong doing.”
The goal of the presentation was to incite a paradigm shift in the bad but conventional practices in the country which have affected the growth and development of the nation as a whole.
