Mr. Yankah was of the view that, instead of nurturing our communalistic values, most Ghanaians have blindly copied lifestyles and systems which divide us and, in the process, people take advantage of the conflicting differences to exploit vulnerable people for their personal gains.
According to him, it will only take a radical transformation of the mindset of citizens to avert the growing numbers of selfishness and greed amongst Ghanaian.
“Parents must insist on instilling traditional values at home and also educational policies must revise their notes and infuse history and African values in the school curriculum,” he said.
Mr. Yankah is of the view that, much of the transformation lies on the shoulders of religious and traditional leaders adding that they must be honest and tell their congregation that Christians and Islamic teaching reinforce traditional African values.
Mr. Yankah who was speaking at the PR Week Lecture 2018 on the theme ‘Deriving value from values (a test for corporate governance)” said “all of us should think African instead of the narrow path we have been used to”.
This according to him is the only way Ghana can stand on its feet to compete with other “giant” nations across the globe.
