The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) has provided an update on the train involved in an accident on the Tema-Mpakadan rail line earlier this year.
According to Nana Ama Opoku, GRDA's Assistant Manager of Corporate Affairs, the train is undergoing repairs at the Tema maintenance yard, with engineers from both GRDA and the Polish manufacturers collaborating on the work.
The Polish engineers assessed the damage and are procuring parts to complete the repairs by the end of the month.
Additionally, a second batch of 12 new trains is expected to arrive in Ghana by the end of October, with the railway line's commissioning set for November.
The accident occurred during a test run on April 18, 2024, and the legal proceedings are currently being handled by the government.
