National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Kofi Adams has stated that former President Jerry John Rawlings was a victim of misinformation about claims the NDC elected unqualified people during its branch elections.

According to Kofi Adams who was speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise show, there was no such thing as electing unqualified people as due diligence was ensured throughout the elections.

“I can say that yes to a large extent, sitting where I sit and knowing what I know, he was misinformed although some of the issues he raised were true, and we dealt with them,” Kofi Adams stated.

The National Organizer stated that the party does not do anything contrary to what is contained in its constitution, hence there is no way unqualified people would make it through the election.

According to him, the processes undertaken to ensure a successful election went through series of methods to ensure that there were no anomalies; he added that there was no proof to show that any unqualified person was elected.

“It is difficult to respond to that because we have not had evidence from the ground that anybody unqualified has gone through yet.”

Nonetheless, Kofi Adams also stated that any candidate who is not qualified to hold a position would have his or her election annulled.

He further said the former President’s concern about some electorate being turned away from voting was also not true since every eligible voter had his or name in the party’s register.

Reacting to issues about the NDC’s restructuring, Kofi Adams said the party has become attractive to many people as they are getting more involvement from their supporters more than they have ever had since the inception of the NDC.

“I have never seen a determined party like NDC before; I have never seen a party so enthusiastic and ready for action than now,” he said.

He added that the party has become attractive to the extent that people now understand that truly if Ghana can move forward, it will be through the NDC.

According to Kofi Adams, losing the 2016 election has energized their people the more to be committed to the NDC.
