The Ghana Road Fund owes contractors over GH¢6 billion, attributing the debt to limited inflows caused by the 2017 capping law, which restricts fund allocations to 25% of tax revenue.
At the launch of a road maintenance app, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Chairman of the Road Fund, called for the fund’s exemption from this law to alleviate the debt and ensure sufficient funds for road maintenance.
Annoh-Dompreh plans to engage the Ministry of Finance and Cabinet to seek this exemption, aiming to support ongoing road work and address the substantial debt owed to contractors.
