The Ghana Road Fund owes contractors over GH¢6 billion, a debt attributed to limited inflows due to the capping law, which restricts the allocation of tax revenue to statutory funds to 25%.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Chairman of the Road Fund, highlighted the financial strain at the launch of a road maintenance app, calling for the fund's exemption from the capping law.
He plans to engage with the Ministry of Finance and Cabinet to consider this exemption, which would allow more funds for road maintenance and debt settlement, enabling contractors to continue their work.
