Russian Embassy in Ghana refutes claim of refunds for denied visa applicants

A claim by Varney Alieu Jarsey, President of the All-Africa Students Union, that the Russian Embassy in Ghana refunds visa fees to rejected applicants has been debunked.

Jarsey’s statement, made during a July 29 appearance on Liberia’s OK FM, gained traction on social media but was found to be false.

DUBAWA’s fact-checking revealed that the embassy’s official policy is that visa fees are non-refundable, regardless of the application outcome.

The embassy has confirmed that fees are for processing only and are not returned if a visa is denied.
