The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has demanded the overhaul of the SSNIT board and the resignation of its top management, citing poor management and accountability of pension funds.
This follows protests against SSNIT's attempted sale of its 60% stake in four hotels to the Agriculture Minister's private hotel, a deal that was eventually terminated.
UTAG believes this incident reveals the board's failure in decision-making and disconnect from public sentiment.
They support a nationwide strike by organized labor starting July 15, if necessary, to push for responsible leadership at SSNIT.
