The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has halted the sale of its 60% stake in four hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Ghana's Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong.
This decision, announced by SSNIT Board Chair Elizabeth Ohene, follows massive opposition and Rock City Hotel's withdrawal from the transaction.
Despite this, unions like the TUC and GMA threaten a strike from July 15 unless SSNIT provides clarity on the future of the hotels.
SSNIT reassures stakeholders of its commitment to managing the pension scheme sustainably.
