Member of Parliament for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa Dr Sebastian Sandaare is demanding urgent intervention from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) following rising Covid-19 cases in the constituency.

He revealed that six people in Daffiama had contracted the virus, with two dead within a week.

The development, according to him, has left his constituents in fear and panic.

Addressing the media in parliament on Friday, September 3, Dr Sandaare disclosed health workers in the enclave have inadequate logistics to embark on contact tracing and testing.

He wants the constituency targeted for mass vaccination.

“As we speak, in a week, we have about six cases with two deaths giving us a fatality rate of 33 per cent, which I find not too good.

“Even though we have had community spread, but some communities were not reporting cases, but all of a sudden, we are having this number just within a small community. Some are dying, so it is important that I bring it to the notice of the necessary authorities so that urgent action can be taken to contain the virus.

“Not much vaccination has been done; in fact, my interaction has revealed that the first vaccination that was done was just limited to the health workers, no person who we can say are at risk received the vaccines, people with hypertension, people with diabetes, people with pre-existing conditions even the elderly were not vaccinated.”
